Contract Awards
We were contacted by a journalist from a national newspaper in the UK. He was working on a story regarding the awarding of Covid Contracts during the pandemic, with a particular focus on a related group of companies.
The key objectives was to understand and prove that the contracts had been awarded and that the connections between the companies involved could be highlighted.
Through our database we were able to establish that in the region of 100 connected companies had been awarded contracts by national and local government. We could also provide information on how the directors of these companies connected and also established that one family in particular had benefitted from substantial contracts totalling over £2.6 billion.

Acquistion
We were approached by the CEO of a large corporation based in Germany. They were well established in their sector, with markets across the majority of Europe and a turnover of almost £1 billion per year. They were looking for a foothold in the UK and were in the due diligence stage of acquiring a UK based competitor.
Their key objective was to find out if there were any areas of concern in the business activities of the company they were looking to buy. They had been recommended to speak to Open & Candid because of our intelligence around the kind of company they were looking to purchase.
Due to the NDA in place they were unable to share some information. We were still able to react quickly and produced an intelligence report, which we presented to the CEO and his board within 72 hours from the initial contact.
We were able to highlight two significant areas of concern, which would have an impact of the valuation of the company and also on the potential turnover in the future.

Charity
A well known media outlet in New Zealand was working on a story about a charity and was looking for bespoke financial information to support their story.
Their key objective was to prove where a particular charity income and donations originated and then where the charity was spending these funds.
We specialise in charity investigations and we produced an in depth report showing the origin of over 90% of the charity income and how almost 50% of the outgoings was spent with companies related to the trustees.
